September often feels like a new year. Kids are going back to school, summer comes to an end and work schedules become more regulated. September 2020 seems to be the beginning of our “new normal”. In the spring we found COVID-19 scary, confusing and thought to be short-term; in the summer we tolerated restrictions on social interactions for the sake of finding some return to our normal lives; entering September we are facing a new reality.
The first four words in the book of Genesis are the same in every translation of the Bible: “In the beginning, God.” We serve a loving, faithful God who has always existed and always will. Whether it be a global crisis forcing a new way of life, or a single person waking up to her first morning as a Cancer Patient, God is already there waiting to walk alongside us. We feel privileged to be a part of that provision for those facing the new normal of a breast cancer diagnosis.
This October: Pop In for Pinked!
Our annual Think Pink event will take a slightly different format this year (see above ruminations on the new normal). We invite you to stop by Holy Grounds in Severna Park to celebrate our Pink Warriors and to support Pinked on Saturday, October 24th ~ 9-11 am. Registration details coming soon!
The Whole Kit N’ Caboodle: A Pinked Update
As many have taken to their sewing machines again during this time of the pandemic, we are pleased to say that we are not lacking in offers for the sewing of items that are helpful for those recovering from surgery and other treatment. Very special thanks to Stitches of Kindness and sweet friend of Pinked, Diane who have been hard at work getting pillows, flannel wraps, masks and drain sacks to us regularly.
We continue to receive requests for Mastectomy Kits as hospitals slowly increase their capacity for non-COVID related procedures. If you are interested and able to host a group to assemble kits (while minding guidelines for safe social distancing), please email us at [email protected].
The Amazon Wishlist and Smile
In addition to our need for Kit Assembly, we also continue to have need for the supplies that fill our kits. One of the ways that many choose to support Pinked Perspective is through purchasing items from our Amazon Wishlist. We are so grateful for all that have had items shipped directly to us from the wishlist. A few specific items that we are in need of would be:
- Button Down Pajamas (Fall Season, Preferably in Pink)
- EOS Lip Balms
- Journals
- Jesus Calling Devotionals
- Pink patterned fabric
- Pink flannel fabric
- Velcro
And a reminder, if you don’t yet support an organization through Amazon Smile, please consider designating Pinked Perspective to benefit from your Amazon Smile purchases. Click HERE to learn more about Amazon Smile.
