| As a small non-profit, we take great joy in collaboration with other organizations with similar missions. We are so thrilled to announce that Pinked Perspective was recently awarded a grant by Bosom Buddies Charities in support of our goals to expand the provision of at least 30 additional Mastectomy or Non-Mastectomy Kits to those facing breast cancer treatment in Maryland in 2020. For the second year in a row, we have had the honor to be able to lock arms with Bosom Buddies Charities to carry out our similar missions of supporting those affected by a breast cancer diagnosis. As we have learned more about Bosom Buddies Charities, we can especially relate to its origin. Bosom Buddies has existed for 14 years since founder and Queen Anne’s County, Maryland resident, Susan Ponchock fulfilled her vow to “give back” to her community after walking through her own journey of an aggressive form of breast cancer and endured various treatments for her cancer. Since 2006, Bosom Buddies has raised over $2 million to support efforts that fall under their mission to promote breast cancer awareness, encourage early detection, support treatment and celebrate healing. Most recently, their fund raising efforts have allowed them to provide grants to: support genetic counseling at Anne Arundel Medical Center’s DeCesaris Cancer Institute, provide imaging equipment for the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, support families of metastatic breast cancer patients through Leslie’s Week, and provide additional Mastectomy and/or Non-mastectomy kits being sent by Pinked Perspective. In fulfillment of their commitment to celebrate healing, they have also hosted the “Faces of Courage” dinners to honor local breast cancer survivors during the month of October. We are so thankful for such organizations as Bosom Buddies, that have specifically contributed to the advancement of treatment in our area while also supporting the individual Pink Warriors that find themselves facing the devastating reality of diagnosis and treatment. The support that Bosom Buddies Charities provides is made possible in part by the spectacular Bosom Buddies Ball that the organization hosts every year. My husband, Blake and I have had the privilege of attending the Bosom Buddies Ball for the last two consecutive years. It is such an extraordinary event that pays tribute to all the inspirational Pink Warriors of our community while highlighting and supporting our local top-notch Breast Cancer medical care.
